by Holly- Nice Rice is a longterm dream of mine. I have always wanted to run my own small food business in Devon, using as much local produce as possible. Ever since I was very little, I have always had a love of food, and cooking with my Mum is one of my earliest and most treasured memories. We would bake, roast, toast, scramble, fry and bubble up the most delicious meals and always enjoy them together at the end of the day. Food was always something that brought our family together.
I chose rice pudding after a conversation with my best friend over a cup of coffee. We both know all too well how British street markets, festivals and events can be a wear-a-big-coat-and-3-scarves ordeal. Rice pudding makes sense. It's warm, creamy, sweet and familiar. Like a cuddle in a bowl. It's also something that can be topped with endless amounts of flavours to make it perfect for every taste - jam, chocolate, salted caramel, peanut butter (made by aforementioned wonderful friend), fresh mango, tropical coulis, toffee apple... The list goes on! Supporting local producers is really important to me. Devon is well known for its farmland and honestly, it grows, farms and produces some of the best food around. From fresh fruits and vegetables, artisan bakeries, generations-old cheese makers, creameries and so much more, our local goodies are definitely something to celebrate. Our milk comes from Taw River Dairy which is just a few miles away from Nice Rice HQ. I appreciate every second of support from all of you and can't wait to see you somewhere soon which pudding in hand and a smile on your face. Holly x
